Three neighboring towns to Marseillan mirror, in some ways, the relation of Marseillan to Marseillan Plage. While Agde is a largely unspoiled ancient town a bit inland from the sea, Cap d'Agde is a slick resort with thousands of condos, a huge marina, and scores of seaside restaurants. It is also the site of La Grande Conque--a black sand beach created by an offshore volcano. Grau d'Agde splits the difference---with canal-side restaurants and a more laid-back atmosphere. All three are worth a visit.
